Why the app won't install
The Google Calendar page on the App Store says it requires iPadOS 18.0 or later. Some iPads can't be updated that far. The iPad Air (1st generation) and the iPad mini 2 and 3, for example, stop at iOS 12.5.8.
Your App Store may still offer an older version if its maker still supports it. Check on your own iPad.
Showing it with a calendar link
Google Calendar can give you a private link to a calendar, called the Secret address in iCal format. Homeboard reads that link, so no app is needed on the iPad. On a computer:
- Open Google Calendar's settings.
- Under Settings for my calendars, click the calendar you want.
- Scroll to Integrate calendar and copy the Secret address in iCal format.
- Paste it into Homeboard when it asks for a calendar link.
Keep that link private: anyone who has it can read the calendar. The full steps for Google, iCloud and Outlook are in the iPad guide.
What this does and doesn't do
Homeboard shows your Google Calendar on the wall, together with other people's calendars, the weather and your photos. It reads the calendar, so you add and change events in Google Calendar on your phone or a computer, and they appear on the wall after a short delay.
Homeboard is free for one wall display, and works in Safari on iPads with iOS 12 or later. Homeboard Plus is £29 once per home, including UK VAT, with 30 days free and no card needed.
Try Homeboard
