Plans and prices
DAKboard's pricing page lists prices in US dollars:
- Free: one predefined screen, up to two calendars, photos, weather and news, with DAKboard branding.
- Essential: $6 monthly, or $5 a month billed annually ($60 a year). Includes two custom screens and up to five calendars.
- Plus: $10 monthly, or $8 a month billed annually ($96 a year). Includes three custom screens, unlimited calendars, screen loops and scheduling.
A DAKboard screen is a layout, rather than a physical tablet. Hardware is separate from these software prices.
Homeboard Free keeps one wall display, everyone's calendar links, weather, picture themes, news and night mode. You can choose a ready-made layout or design your own.
Homeboard Plus is £29 once per home, including UK VAT. It adds more tablets, your own photos, children's chores and rewards, meals, lists and notes sent from your phone. Every new home gets 30 days of Plus, with no card. See the plans.
The currencies and features differ, so these are plan prices rather than a like-for-like savings calculation.
Using your own tablet
DAKboard supports browser displays including tablets, computers and TVs, and also sells hardware. Its setup guide calls for an up-to-date browser. Check your particular old tablet before choosing it.
Homeboard runs in Safari on iPads with iOS 12 or later, Android 8+ tablets and Fire tablets from 2018. Check your model, then follow the iPad guide or Android and Fire guide. A tablet needs power and a stand or mount; Homeboard does not supply hardware.
Which suits your home?
DAKboard is worth considering if you want its service integrations, screen templates or its hardware options. Essential and Plus include custom CSS and custom layouts; Plus adds screen scheduling.
Homeboard also has custom layouts and custom CSS. Its focus is using an old tablet for family life, with household logins, children ticking off chores and earning points, and notes sent from a phone. It reads calendar links; you edit events in your original calendar app. It does not offer every DAKboard integration.
For a basic calendar, try the free plans. For the extra family features, consider whether Homeboard's one-off payment or DAKboard's particular paid features fit what you need.
Try Homeboard
Look around the example home before signing up. If the tablet suits it, start a home and try it on your own wall.
